Raha (Zahra) Bahloulipour was a 23-year-old student of Italian Language and Literature in Tehran whose life was tragically cut short. She chose to be called “Raha,” a Persian word meaning free—a name that reflected her spirit and her aspirations. Passionate about language, storytelling, and cinema, she dreamed of writing books, translating literature, and contributing to cultural dialogue. She cared deeply about the rights and dignity of women and marginalized communities and believed in the power of education as a path toward justice and freedom.
Raha was more than a victim of violence; she was a learner, a thinker, and a young woman who believed in knowledge, expression, and the right to live freely. This scholarship honors her life by transforming memory into opportunity—ensuring that students may continue to learn, create, and pursue their dreams in her name.
Woman. Life. Freedom.
