The UTSA Model UN Society was founded in 2013. Since then, we have engaged Roadrunners in international diplomacy through our annual Alamo Model UN conference. This event has grown from just 15 participants in its first year to more than 150 students every year, bringing together students from across UTSA and beyond to explore the UN and global issues together. In addition to hosting the conference, our students have proudly represented UTSA at conferences in New York (National Model UN), Mexico City (ITAM Model UN), Austin and Houston (TexMUN), and Charlotte (SRMUN). We also prepare Roadrunners for success through education and outreach.
For many students, Model UN is a life-changing experience in their academic journey. It allows them to put classroom knowledge into practice while sharpening their skills in research, public speaking, negotiation, and diplomacy. Model UN fosters professionalism by helping students refine how they present themselves, engage with others, and think critically about global issues. Model UN has given students an intellectual home and helped them feel belonging. Beyond the simulations, participants connect with real-world diplomats and expert practitioners, creating valuable opportunities for mentorship and career development.
